GRAHAM BONNET IN BARCELONA WITH ELEKTRIC ZOO

Barcelona 30 of April 2004
Band: Elektric Zoo
Members:
Graham Bonnet: Vocal
Dario Mollo: Guitar
Roberto Gualdi: Drums
Guido Heinz: Bass
Maurizio Belluzo: Keyboards.
Place: Razzmatazz II, old Zeleste II
Hour of Beginning: 21:40
Public: 300 people approx..., normal in this one city. Good concerts are for big minorities. The perfect public is old friends. Everybody takes photos. It's no problem. We are all known. There is no security. There is no necessity, as it is like a meeting of friends. In rock concerts, since many years ago, there is no danger.

The concert begins, with Graham Bonnet warming up the voice with the Rainbow classic "Eyes of The World". Problems with the monitors, also normal in the first song. Graham, like always, with exquisite education, asks the technician of the stage for more volume or better mix in the central monitors. Always with a smile. The last time he sang in Barcelona he took an auricular monitor, but in this one occasion preferred the conventional monitor! ?? !...Rare...!

The second song ... from ALCATRAZZ " God Blessed Video", the voice started almost totally to be prime here, almost perfect. Some singers  warm up the voice in backstage. Graham, like the great classic singers, prefers little by little to do it on the stage. This is an art given to the experienced. Dangerous for non-expert singers. But in the following "Love's No Friend", the voice is in its ideal place.

A trip begins, through history and music. The following station, a classic one of The Cage, whichi Tony Martin sang, another great one of the voice, with the guitarist Dario Mollo, who one more night, is very night watchman but with much feeling. The continuous trip, stopping in other stations, like in MSG, or standards like Night Games, and the peculiar station of the disc which Dario Mollo has with Glenn Hughes, where Graham left the work of the singer to the German bass-player. Peculiar vocal performance of the bass-player. It's not Glenn Hughes... of course....please..., but his singing was not too bad, along with the Italian keyboard player who knew to make the chorus to Graham in all the songs.

Another diamond Stargazer continued the trip with the memory of another great singer, although Graham here knows to impose his style. Graham trusts the bass-player who knows the set well, where he should enter and when he should leaves. Very spontaneous..., he is very recent on everything, but very hot.

Graham every time gives more to the emotion. His voice stretches, breaks and projects. Only one note in falsetto in all the concert, because he wanted. Incredible. Graham enjoys. He's a man with very humor and very talent. The voice of Graham is unique. His wild voice is totally natural without falsettos, torn in the acute ones when it wants....Spectacular.....Any singer who tries to imitate to the voice of Graham could lose the voice, but he is a teacher of this one technique, and is able to give a spectacle, almost of theater when he interprets singing on the stage fallen in the ground... One of the best singers and with more style in hard rock.

The musicians played their corresponding improvisation. Dario played "Lazy". He even played a song influenced by jazz-fusion music. Peculiarly, that same night played in Barcelona Dave Weckl, and others, and it was necessary to choose. For me, it was easy.
Finally, "Lost in Hollywood" and "All Night Long" and "Since You've Been Gone". Here, in the last bis, Graham does not sing totally or perfectly in tune. It does not matter. He has given everything....all.... There is much emotion...Tomorrow...more....To see and to listen to Graham is unique experience.

Hi Graham!!! Yesterday you made true the dream of our lives, singing here in Pamplona in your European tour. You were great, your voice stronger than ever. The most common sentence we said after your gig was "now after Bonnet we are ready to die in peace" seriously!!! and thanks to you so it is. Thank you and keep on rocking! You are the perfect example of a rocker' attitude, regardless your age. How I wish new bands felt inside their music as you do! Bonnet Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alfredo Hernandez, Pamplona

Graham and band,
Just saw your gig at Stourbridge (UK) 4/5/04 and I have to say many thanks for a great night. Saw you 2-3(?) years ago at the same venue when my brother-in-law in the band 'Stark' was the support - chatted with you at the bar later that night - 'twas a gig of rockin' nostalgia and thanks for taking the time to talk with us. Took my (older) brothers to the 2004 gig tonight (they saw you with original Rainbow back when...lucky bastards!) and it was great to see their faces light up at such classics as 'All Night Long', 'Since You Been Gone' and 'Lost in Hollywood'! Being big Dio fans we were also overwhelmed by 'Stargazer' - man, what a riff - Dario is a great guitarist! You really gave your voice a good workout tonight, sweating like a pirhana fish in a sauna (!) - 10 out of 10 for effort! Keep rockin',

The Deacon Brothers.

Hi there.
Just to say I went to the Crewe gig last night. It was fantastic. This is the first time I have seen Graham with his own band. They were all brill and a good set. Well done lads. Bye.

Keith

Thanks for the Limelight gig last night, brought back some good memories. Fave tunes were Eyes of The World and All Night Long. But why no Night Games? We missed it.
Regards
John Millington

Just a short message to Graham and the band - thanks for a brilliant gig at Bradford Rio's last night (7th), it is possibly 1 of the best gigs I've been to in recent years. The place wasn't packed out which made it more intimate. It was great to hear Alcatrazz and MSG songs included in the set. Graham may be getting on a bit now (sorry) but he's still got a terrific voice - the first time I saw him was in 1980 at Donnington and he still sounds just as good. Don't leave it too long before coming back please.

Tim Ford
p.s. When the band came back on for an encore Graham gave a short burst of 'I do like to be beside the seaside' and then said sorry I thought I was in Bournemouth! What's wrong with Skegness Graham?

Friday 7 May Bradford Rio's. Another great gig. Thanks to Graham and Elektric Zoo for playing here. Also for signing my CDs, I have13 signed now only another 11 to go.
Photos of the night to follow. Thanks.

Frank

Taking to a London stage for the first time since Down To Earth, (?) Graham, one of the great vocalists and the very talented Elektric Zoo raced through a set drawn from over 25 years of classic rock.

A crowd drawn from the UK, Spain, Italy, Japan and who knows where else roared along to Eyes of The World, the immense Stargazer, the long loved and lost Desert Song, through God Blessed Video, Bad Girl, Lost in Hollywood and the best double act since Laurel and Hardy, Since You've Been Gone and All Night Long. The songs from Elektric Zoo stood comparison with their set mates, particularly My Love, My Life, My Everything?

A good natured and patient signing session completed a great evening.

Now managed to see him in a tent, a pub in Milton Keynes and now the Westonefour. All that's missing is a decent stage for the undoubted talent on show and who knows maybe they aren't so far away.

Long live rock and roll.

Graham, Just to let you know it was a blistering concert on Friday at Rio's - loved every minute of it! My wife would like to know how you can sing so loud and not have your head explode? I told her you got a load of duct tape wrapped around it just under your hair line... ;-) Don't worry about the "hymn book" it's your voice we want! Cheers and hope to see you again sometime, in the meantime have you any DVDs we can get our hands on?

Matthew

Guys, thanks for a brilliant gig last night it was fantastic. Thank you very much for letting me get backstage and meeting yourselves it finished off a great night for me. I blame my Dad for all this but you cant beat rock and roll LIVE can you.
I hope you have a good rest and we will see you again in November.

Thanx again for making me feel welcome.

Keep On Rockin
